Firearms Museums Not to Miss

Not surprisingly, America is home to some of the best firearms in the world. And, even if you have been collecting (and yes, shooting) firearms for years, it is unlikely you have seen every type of firearm. So, why not take a few trips to check out some of the amazing gun collections around the country?

Must-See U.S. Gun Museums and Collections

The NRA National Firearms Museum, Fairfax, VA –

firearm1As one of 3 firearms museums owned by the NRA, you don’t want to miss an opportunity to visit here!  This one has more than 3,000 guns spanning the history of firearms.   You will see a flintlock that was brought over on the Mayflower, guns used by Hollywood greats like Clint Eastwood and many others.  And best of all, admission at all NRA museums is free. Other NRA museums include the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum in Springfield, Missouri and the Frank Boswell Museum of the Southwest.

Cody Firearms Museum, Cody, WY –

Also known as the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, this museum showcases guns of the American frontier.  They sport an extensive firearm exhibit touted as one of the best in the world.  There’s a Winchester collection, more than 7,000 firearms, unique pieces, and exhibits on natural history, too. The BBHC is home to 5 museums, so you might want to plan a full day to take in all there is to see!

The Davis Collections, Claremore, OK –

Browning’s Home Base, Ogden, UT –

The Browning Firearms Museum showcases Browning’s machine guns, shotguns, rifles, and pistols, and has one of the most complete collections in the world.

Dragonman’s Military Museum, Colorado Springs, CO –
